SuperHeavy við Jagger og teimum

Enn er vón fyri gomlum rokkarum (Universal Music)

Promotari, fotografur og journalistur. Tað segði ein persónlig arbeiðskanning herfyri. ENTP vóru arbeiðsligu eginleikarnir. Kanska skuldi eg lagt úrslitið fyri SuperHeavy. Tí í næstu viku lata tey úr hondum Miracle Worker, ið er fyrsti brellbiti av einum breiðum savni, sum Universal Music gevur út um allan heim á góða gamla plátufelagnum A&M 19. september.

Handan ivasama boksaranavnið SuperHeavy fjala seg Mick Jagger, Dave Stewart, Joss Stone, Damian Marley og A.R. Rahman, sum tilsamans hava ellivu Grammy virðislønir undir hond.

Heidi Degn frá Universal Music hevur latið meg sleppa at lúra í setlistan, sum umframt Miracle Worker telur One Day One Night, Energy, Unbelievable, SuperHeavy, I Can't Take It No More, You're Never Gonna Change og I Don't Mind, tilsamans 22 sangir, ein á urdu.

- This is a mad alchemist type experiment, sigur Dave Stewart av Jamaika í samrøðu við tíðarritið Billboard.

Hinvegin sigur Mick Jagger: - Dave really wanted to make a record with a different group of musicians, in other words, with different backgrounds of music.  Instead of everyone being a rock musician, or basically a blues musician, or some other genre, he wanted to get as many genres together that would fit. I said it sounds like a good idea, I never thought it would actually happen.

- She's such an incredible singer and spirit, sigur Stewart um Stone og knýtir Damian Marley upp í ætlanina við hesum orðum: - We'd always wanted a Jamaican musician because Mick and I are crazy about Jamaica and Jamaican music.

Dave Stewart, sum býr í Jamaika, hevur fyrr samstarvað við Jimmy Cliff, meðan Mick Jagger hevur sungið saman við Peter Tosh úr The Wailers í Temptationssanginum Don't Look Back í 1978.

Undir upptøkum í Los Angeles møttu tey indiska tónaskaldinum A.R. Rahman, sum gjørdi tónleik til filmin Slumdog Millionaire.

- We didn't know what kind of music we'd make, we didn't know if it would be any good, but we hoped we'd have fun, sigur Mick Jagger og lýsir Rahman við hesum orðum: He brings so much musical knowledge, amazing musicianship, melody and singing power from a different culture.

Eftir seks døgum vóru 22 sangir blivnir til í upptøkurúminum.

- That's what you need, all these opinionated people who have been brilliant in their own field, shove them together and see what comes out.  It's really unexpected, it's mind blowing, sigur Joss Stone, meðan Rahman var meira ørkymlaður: - The first day I was in a daze thinking, 'What am I doing? What's my role?' and then slowly we started writing with each other, and it was great.  It took me way back to my high school days when I was playing in a rock band, but this one was a real one!

- We ran the gamut of all our different styles mixed up, so we got Joss singing, Damian doing toasting, and me singing different styles, sigur ein vælhýrdur Jagger, sum er frontmaður í heimsins elsta rokkbólki, Rolling Stones, ið summi siga syngja seinasta ørindi, men tað trúgvi eg einki uppá.

Tað er ikki uttan trupulleikar at lata so kend og ymisk listafólk savnast við einum og sama endamáli.

- It's the most complicated record ever made.  Imagine, some of it's recorded in LA, some of it's recorded in the South of France, some of it's recorded off the coast of Cyprus, some of it's recorded in Turkey, some of it's recorded in Miami, some of it's recorded in the Caribbean, and some of it's recorded in Chennai, in India, sigur framleiðari Dave Stewart.

Navnið á sjálsama bólkinum manglaði og kveiktur av Muhammed Ali, skeyt Marley upp SuperHeavy, ið nú er karmurin um eitt spontant samstarv fyri tónleikarar, ið kanska keða seg, men eisini hava nógv at geva.

- I said to Dave, normally we'd always have written songs before we go into the studio, but the jam sessions resulted in some great work. It felt better when we were just jamming, that way we made it up as we went along and it was easy. With five of you everyone has to give and take quite a lot. We tried to understand everyone wouldn't be too egotistical, start throwing things around the studio, we wouldn't have fights. We were writing a lot of stuff and throwing it away. I would say, 'That's rubbish, another cliché Joss', and she'd say, 'Well you come up with something then!'" The experience was refreshing and exciting for the band, "We're four vocalists, we've never worked like that before. It's great because the whole burdens not on you, and that made it fun, sigur Jagger.

Um tónleikastílin sigur Joss Stone: It's very approachable. If you're a Rolling Stones fan there's definitely stuff you can relate to. Other stuff that you can't relate to so much, maybe if you listen you'll enjoy it.

Ein nýggj avbjóðing er í hvussu er at Jagger syngur ein sang hjá Rahman, sum er á urdu máli, Satyameva Jayate er heitið.

- We haven't planned to do a tour or anything, but if people really like it maybe we will. We'd love to get out and play some of it live, sigur Jagger í samrøðu við tíðarritið Billboard, nú fyrsti brellbitin er lagdur fyri almenningin.
