At fotografera opnar sinnið

Ein av amerikansku fotografunum, sum hava vitjað í Føroyum, er Clay Lipsky, sum eg áður havi skrivað um á blogginum. Clay hevur givið út fleiri fotobøkur, úr Føroyum og Íslandi hevur hann givið út In Dark Light - A Journey Within, og hin nýggjasta er úr Havana. Við Føroyaferðini í september í 2012 í baksýni, spurdi eg Clay, hvat tað er, sum ger, at summi lond, støð og býir eru verd at fotografera, goyma og kanska geva út í bók, framm um onnur støð. Í morgun kom svarið:

- I am a fine art photographer and graphic designer based in Los Angeles, California. I enjoy photography, as it encourages me to travel, and helps open your mind, as you experience new countries and cultures, sigur Clay, sum hevur vitjað í Afrika, Kina, Tailandi og longur úti í heim.

- These journeys have helped me grow as a photographer and shaped my personal world view. Recently I have enjoyed making fine art photo books based on some of my trips. I see the book as a great medium to gather a series of images together and tell a short story based on my adventure. My most recent travel tale is set in Havana, Cuba. It is a fascinating country going through an evolution and I am happy to have seen it before major changes come. Other recent books are based on travels to Japan and Iceland. Another place I travelled to and enjoyed was the Faroe Islands. I find the Faroes very unique geographically. Surrounded by water I was constantly reminded of the grandeur of nature and the resilience of man to survive. The scenery was lush and green and the quick changes in weather provided an interesting contrast. It is a remote destination, but one that was comfortable, once there. It is definitely one of the most unique places I have ever visited, and I found the people to be very welcoming.

Enn hevur Clay ov fáar myndir til eina heila bók úr Føroyum, men savnið veksur.

- Sum ferðandi fotolistamaður arbeiði eg altíð við nýggjum myndarøðum, og her er ein lítil fyribilsrøð, sum vísir Føroyar í mínum optikki. Eg vil fegin hoyra, hvat tínir blogglesarar halda um myndirnar. Møguliga fari eg at seta hesar og aðrar føroyskar myndir inn í komandi røðir, sum stinga seg upp, sigur Clay.

- And it is nice and rather epic that the DreamWorks team will use the Faroe Islands as backdrop in their new production The Friendly Giant, sigur Clay Lipsky at enda.

Her er ein av myndunum úr føroyska fotosavninum hjá Clay, sum er hugtikin av regninum í Føroyum. Myndin er av Langasandi.
